Breaking Barriers are an ambitious, multi-disciplinary, production company working out of (and managing) Richard Street Studios, an artist led space in Rochdale Town Centre – right across the road from the train/tram station. They work in and across Greater Manchester and nationally, to create exceptional films, theatrical productions, binaural audio pieces and outdoor walking tours with both local communities and international artists.
Breaking Barriers are a small but growing team who are on the hunt for a Producer. This is a new, exciting, role which will to help expand the organisation and scale up the volume of their productions and output. The ideal candidate will be an experienced Producer with a track record in successful, high quality, project delivery across a range of artforms within agreed timeframes and budgets. You will be well supported but given autonomy in your work. You will therefore be an excellent communicator – comfortable in a variety of contexts and working with teams of creatives and cross sector partners – with excellent organisational skills in order to ensure stress-free delivery for all involved.
Main Purpose of the job:
* Be the lead Producer of Breaking Barriers projects – developing approaches, liaising with partners, team, participants and managing public engagement with projects as appropriate to each project. Some projects will tour to schools, venues and community contexts with partnership support.
* Manage budgets, draft contracts, write copy to support the communications and promotion of each project and other administrative tasks.
* Support partnership liaison and project fundraising.
* Collate data, support reporting and evaluation as appropriate to each project.
The candidate will work closely with the Artistic Director and Executive Producer on overall planning of new projects – but will be expected to lead on the delivery of assigned projects. These could range from producing and touring performance work in theatres and schools, outdoor, film, festival or audio projects with our skilled creative team in a variety of locations across Greater Manchester and England.

This role is full time, but we are open to a discussion about days if this is a barrier to making an application. It is a fixed-term post for 12 months, with potential to extend the contract and continue to work with us as we develop the organisation.
Producer: Main Duties
* The majority of your work will be to work closely with the leadership team – taking the lead on your assigned projects with responsibility for each production – overseeing all aspects of delivery.
* Work closely with the Executive Producer and Artistic Director on planning all activities, budgeting, scheduling and project production processes.
* Act as the primary contact for all matters relating to the project with creative and technical teams, delivery partners and/or participants and community members – ensuring a smooth flow of information for all between Breaking Barriers, project partners and delivery teams.
* Responsibility for leading all production processes such as budgeting and management of budget, drafting agreements with all contractors, schedules and call sheets, management of time sheets etc.
* Liaison with any box office teams for set up of any (free or on sale) ticketing requirements and guest lists.
* Communicating and ensuring codes of practice, work protocols and participatory guidelines are understood and adhered to by all team members.
* Managing logistical arrangements accommodation, catering or travel.
* Ensuring excellent access provision is in place to meet the needs of disabled artists, participants, teams etc.
* Supporting fundraising plans, partnership communications and leading funding bids where appropriate.
* Keep up to date with socially engaged arts industry best practice, and aware of current trends nationally.
* Develop relationships and connections to benefit our project and project beneficiaries to develop and share insights, intelligence and appropriate opportunities.
* Promote a supportive, collaborative, and organised working environment for all project teams.
* Maintain systems for administration and budget management.
* Contribute to the implementation of plans that ensure fairness, equality and climate sustainability is embedded into our production processes.
* Collate and code financial information for the processing and payment of invoices, petty cash etc.
* Responsibility for finding affordable ethical suppliers for all materials used.
* Contribute to professional workshops, knowledge sharing/exchange or training and development for the benefit of our team and local creative community at Richard Street.
* Representing Breaking Barriers by attending events, sharing insights, intelligence, methodologies etc.
* Where appropriate, work with the team to plan ahead and foresee potential ‘crunch’ points in order to identify when additional support will be needed.
* To support the hosting of any work placements or student learning experiences on any project.
* Marketing and Communications.
We are intending to recruit a Marketing Manager, but until then you will need to work with project partners communications teams to agree and deliver project marketing plans:
* Act as the primary contact for all communications matters relating to the projects (media handles/channels/campaigns etc).
* Develop marketing and communications for the project campaigns.
* Share insights to develop appropriate and targeted communications as necessary.
* Share opportunities or learning/case studies/curate related content for our regular social media channels and/or communications.
* Liaise with the Marketing Manager when in post.
* Manage data, support reporting and evaluation.
* Contribute to setting up systems to monitor Breaking Barriers’ impact and reach.
* Contribute to collating data and reporting requirements for any project funded activity.
* Collate data and analysis of engagement for reporting to funders.
* Health and Safety Follow and abide by all Breaking Barrier policies.
* Work with the team to ensure responsibility for the health & safety of all project delivery, including attending safeguarding, mental health first aid and first aid training.
* Complete risk assessments and follow best practice.
* Keep up to date with First Aid best practice and incident book to record all accidents.
* Keep medical information and emergency contacts about all contracted team members.
Annual salary: £32,000 pro rata (based on 5 days per week)
Status: 12 month fixed term contract PAYE (or F/T 37.5 hours per week)
Holiday Entitlement: Statutory holidays of 25 days plus all public bank holidays.
Probationary period: 3 months.
Place of work: Richard Street Studios, 44-46 Richard Street, Rochdale, OL11 1DU.
Pension: The Company makes a 3% contribution into the company’s group personal pension plan on condition that the employee makes a minimum contribution of 5%, totalling an 8% pension contribution.
The postholder will be expected to travel in Greater Manchester and the UK to develop projects and meet partners as appropriate.
