Position: Teacher of Hospitality and Catering - Post 16 Students with EHC Plans
Level of Qualification for Delivery: Occupational Studies Level 2
Fixed Term Up Until the End of the Academic Year (with the opportunity of long-term, permanent position for the right candidate)
1. Background Information
A position for teacher of Hospitality and Catering with appropriate experience and degree level qualification(s) has arisen at Edintervention within our post 16 offer. For the right candidate, this vacancy will start as soon as possible, ideally from January 27th, 2025.
This unique and exciting opportunity requires flexibility in your approach to deliver stimulating and fun lessons across the curriculum on a one-to-one/extremely small group basis, whilst being dynamic in your approach to support the learning needs of our students.
2. Post Purpose
Under the reasonable direction of the Senior Leadership Team at Edintervention, carry out the professional duties of a teacher as outlined in the generic job description.
To ensure provision of an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students studying on the Occupational Studies in the Workplace Level 2, in accordance with the vision and mission of Edintervention.
Be responsible for leading and helping to develop the curriculum for Occupational Studies in the Workplace Level 2, with a specific focus on Hospitality and Catering.
To contribute to raising standards of student attainment while facilitating a meaningful learning experience.
Reporting to: Senior Leadership Team.
Responsible for: The delivery of bespoke one-to-one and small group lessons for post-16 students with EHC's.
Working Time: Full time, term time only.
Salary/Grade: Depending on experience.
Driver’s Licence: Full

3. Teaching
3.1 To undertake an appropriate programme of teaching in accordance with the duties of a teacher as outlined in the generic job description.
4. Operational and Strategic Planning
4.1 To develop appropriate syllabuses, resources, schemes of work, marking policies, assessment, and teaching strategies in the department, within the designated area.
4.2 The day-to-day management, control, and operation of the relevant curriculum area provision within the department.
4.3 To assist in monitoring and following up student progress.
4.4 To assist in the implementation of Edintervention policies and procedures, for example, Safeguarding, Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety, and Behaviour Management.
4.5 To work with colleagues to formulate aims and objectives which have coherence and relevance to the needs of students and to the aims and objectives of Edintervention.
4.6 To assist in the management of the allocated budget, accommodation, and resources, and to ensure that the planning activities of the sessions reflect the needs of the students and the aims and objectives of Edintervention.
5. Curriculum Provision
5.1 To liaise with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure the delivery of an appropriate, comprehensive, and high-quality curriculum programme which complements Edintervention strategic objectives.
6. Curriculum Development
6.1 To assist with curriculum development.
6.2 To keep up to date with national developments in the subject area and teaching practice and methodology.
6.3 To monitor actively and respond to curriculum development and initiatives at national, regional, and local levels.
7. Staffing
7.1 To continue personal development as agreed with Head of Centre.
7.2 To engage actively in the Performance Management Review process.
7.3 To promote teamwork and motivate staff to ensure effective working relations.
7.4 To assist in the effective/efficient deployment of classroom support when appropriate.
8. Quality Assurance
8.1 To ensure the effective operation of quality control systems.
8.2 To assist in the process of the setting of targets within the department and to work towards realizing achievement.
8.3 To help establish common standards of practice within the department and develop the effectiveness of teaching and learning styles.
8.4 To contribute to Edintervention procedure for lesson/session observations.
8.5 To implement provision quality procedures and ensure adherence.
8.6 To participate in the monitoring and evaluation of the relevant curriculum area in line with agreed provision procedures, including evaluation against quality standards and performance criteria.
8.7 To seek/implement modification and improvement where required within the relevant curriculum area.
9. Management Information
9.1 To ensure, in partnership with the Senior Leadership Team, the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date information concerning the department on the management information system.
9.2 To assist in the use of analysis and evaluation of performance data for the department.
9.3 To help produce reports within the annual review cycle.
9.4 To assist in the production of reports on examination performance.
9.5 To assist in the identification of examination entries within the department.
10. Communications and Liaison
10.1 To help ensure that all members of the department/curriculum area are familiar with its aims and objectives.
10.2 To ensure effective communication as appropriate with the parents/carers of students.
11. Management of Resources
11.1 To assist the Senior Leadership team to identify resource needs and contribute to the efficient/effective use of physical resources.
11.2 To cooperate with other departments and staff to ensure sharing and effective usage of resources to the benefit of the students at Edintervention.
12. Pastoral System
12.1 To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students within the English/maths department.
12.2 To assist in the implementation of Behaviour Management systems so that effective learning can take place.
