This is a temporary role for an experienced and motivated Occupational Therapist to work at Braeburn House, a mental health rehabilitation service for men. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting health and independence through high-quality occupational therapy assessments and interventions, as well as providing clinical leadership, supervision, and consultation to the wider multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
The Senior Occupational Therapist will be instrumental in delivering compassionate and effective care, communicating effectively with a range of stakeholders, and providing leadership to junior staff. They will also be responsible for the development and implementation of appropriate policies, protocols, and care pathways. The role requires extensive post-qualification clinical experience working with adults who have complex needs, as well as highly specialist knowledge of relevant assessment and treatment models.
Job responsibilities
Your responsibilities as an Occupational Therapist will include:
* Communicating effectively with a range of clinicians, managers, directors, associate directors, people who access services, carers/supporter/family members, stakeholders and agencies.
* Providing compassionate and effective leadership to junior staff including support staff and assistants.
* Ensuring the delivery of occupational therapy student placements.
* Supporting the completion of appraisals/personal development plans with junior staff.
* To be responsible for the development and implementation of appropriate policies, protocols and care pathways.
To be a Successful Occupational Therapist you will need:
* Occupational Therapy profession qualification.
* Extensive and relevant post qualification clinical experience with adults who have complex needs.
* Extensive experience of applying occupational frames of reference and approaches.
* Demonstrates evidence of highly effective clinical reasoning skills.
* Highly specialist knowledge of relevant assessment and treatment models.
* Knowledge of how to work with individuals with mental illness.

You will be working at Braeburn House, a modern purpose-built rehabilitation and recovery service for males suffering from a primary diagnosis of mental illness that have already progressed in their journey of recovery but still require further support and intensive interventions.
The service is being provided by Greater Manchester West Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust and Elysium Healthcare and is situated in the heart of Salford Greater Manchester. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team to work under the guidance of the Care Programme Approach (CPA) to help support individuals to develop the necessary coping strategies and skills to manage a more independent life within a more community-based setting.
