An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Staff Nurse post within the surgical division to join a dynamic and growing team. The Surgical Assessment Unit is a 12 bedded Unit and also includes a seated assessment area for urgent GP referrals.
SAU assesses patients from the following 4 specialties:
1. General Surgery
2. Orthopaedics
3. Urology
4. ENT
To act as a role model in the assessing, planning, implementation, evaluation and delivery of a high standard to care for patients attending the Unit/Department.
The post holder will work as part of a team to provide a safe, effective, efficient care environment for patients, relatives and carers in SAU. They will take part in the development and continual improvement of the service ensuring it is responsive and patient centred with the support of the Sister/Charge Nurse, Senior Sister and Matron. The post holder is expected to work autonomously and independently, take part in the daily running of the department whilst providing advice and support to nursing assistants.
The service we provide is 24/7 therefore the post holder will be part of a shift rotation.
Main duties of the job
You will ensure that patients are seen in a safe, caring, professional timely manner. All patients and carers are kept fully informed whilst ensuring the highest possible standards of care are delivered, liaising with members of the multidisciplinary teams to ensure patients receive a high standard of care. The department focuses on staff development and actively seeks and creates opportunities for professional growth and development both within the Trust and utilising external sources.
