An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Clinical Diagnostic Group for a Registered Nurse or AHP who has the relevant experience to apply for a brand new opportunity within the Clinical Diagnostics Group.
The post expects the successful candidate to be accountable for own actions in accordance with the Code of Professional Conduct. The successful candidate will contribute to corporate objectives, acting within local, Trust, and statutory guidelines and policies at all times.
Highly developed communication skills are necessary to maintain a high-quality service within a complex and challenging environment. You will demonstrate accountability for standards and continuous quality improvements in line with the Trust’s values.
As Modern Matron, you will be responsible for the provision of a high-quality professional service across a number of departments, promoting best practice and implementing a review process that looks at quality and efficiency to meet the needs of patients and services. You will work with other departments, specialties, and colleagues where support is needed to ensure best practice and safe service.

Are you passionate about making a difference for your patients? We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic individual to work across Clinical Diagnostics, which comprises Audiology, Bowel Screening, and the Pathology network, all based across a number of sites.
As Modern Matron, you will have excellent communication skills, as well as the ability to lead and motivate others. The role calls for an individual who will be highly visible, organized, and empathetic to the needs of patients and staff alike.
With your clinical expertise and leadership skills, you will help lead the quality agenda within the group, ensuring a safe, high standard of care for all our patients, as well as helping support the health and well-being of all our staff. You will work alongside the Imaging Modern Matron and will be expected to cross-cover during periods of absence.
You will be responsible for delivering the goals of the Matron’s Charter (2004), taking a proactive as well as reactive stance on cleaning standards and infection control and prevention.
To demonstrate clinical credibility, you will participate frequently in ‘back to the floor’ days and support areas while being visible as a senior leader at all times, both within the Trust and when representing the Trust at external events.

Main Duties/ Responsibilities
* Lead the development and change of practice and policy within the group, exploring new roles and ways of working to modernize the service and improve patient experience.
* Responsible for the support and delivery of effective workforce recruitment and retention strategies, including staff development and succession.
* Ensure that service delivery meets the standards expected by patients and that strategies are in place to maintain and improve high levels of patient satisfaction, responding appropriately to complaints and concerns.
* Undertake bleep-holder responsibilities for the hospital (General or Women and Children’s) on a regular basis.
* Utilize information and IT systems to produce accurate and timely workforce and resource performance data.
* Responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of projects to improve patient care and service development through the audit cycle.
* Support the development and implementation of Trust-wide initiatives.
* Undertake occasional supervision of direct workload requiring moderate to high physical effort according to patient dependency or staff needs.
* Accountable for maintaining a clean, safe environment ensuring adherence to Trust standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control.
* Responsible for adherence to Health and Safety and Trust policy and Clinical Group objectives.
* Ensuring effective use of group resources (e.g., staff, equipment, beds, clinics) to maintain balanced capacity and demand according to service requirements.
* To undertake daily quality walk rounds, routine audits, and at least one rostered clinical shift per month.
* Responsible for the timely and efficient management of governance processes (e.g., complaints, root cause analysis, and investigations).
* Ensure that the education, training, and professional development needs of the nursing and midwifery workforce are identified and appropriate plans are in place to meet those needs.
