We are now looking for a Deputy Catering Manager to join our committed team, ensuring that all students and staff receive nutritious and delicious meals that meet the individual dietary needs of our community. Role Overview: As the Deputy Catering Manager, you will assist in the day-to-day running of the school’s catering department, providing healthy options for breakfast and dinner, as well as preparing sandwiches, salads and light bites for lunch. This is a residential school so breakfast and dinner will be given on their houses and lunches will be served within the lunch hall. You will also be providing meals for the staff. This is a key position within the school, requiring someone who is passionate about food, committed to providing excellent service, and who can demonstrate strong leadership and organisational skills. Key Responsibilities: Assist the Catering Manager in overseeing the preparation and service of meals for students and staff. Supervise and lead the catering team, ensuring a positive and productive working environment. Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in accordance with health and safety regulations. Help manage stock control, ordering, and ensuring the efficient use of resources. Adapt menus to accommodate dietary requirements, allergies, and cultural needs. Ensure that meals are nutritionally balanced and cater to the specific needs of our students. Support the development of menus and meal planning, in line with seasonal ingredients and school budget. Maintain good relationships with students, ensuring they receive a positive dining experience. Manage and assist with staff training and development within the catering team.Essential Skills & Qualifications: Previous experience in catering management or supervisory roles, preferably within an educational or healthcare setting. Strong leadership and team management skills. A passion for food and nutrition, with a focus on quality and presentation. Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing needs. A good understanding of food hygiene and health and safety regulations (Level 2 Food Safety certification is desirable). Experience in catering for special dietary needs and allergies. Excellent organisational and communication skills.Desirable: Experience working within a busy kitchen. Some experience being around children with ADHD and other behavioural needs desirable but not essential to the position. Catering qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).Why Join Us?
