There are multiple seasonal positions available.
Your role
As a member of the Port team, you will have a key role to play in ensuring that we deliver an amazing experience to all our customers, whether they are islanders, visitors from the UK or overseas or commercial customers.
You will also have key safety and security duties - assisting with maintenance of the pier, traffic management and all other duties connected with vessel movement, as well as making sure our ports meet our customers’ expectations by undertaking various tidy up duties.
Day to Day Working
You will work a varied shift pattern, which includes weekends, bank holidays and evenings.
You may be required to start work early each morning and some shifts will mean you will finish after the last vessel has set sail for the evening.
Key Responsibilities
Ticket Sales, Printing and Distribution:
1. Process ticket sales accurately and efficiently.
2. Assist customers in selecting appropriate tickets for our services.
3. Operate ticketing systems and equipment for printing and distributing tickets.
Customer Interaction:
1. Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and offering assistance.
2. Communicate ticketing information, policies, and procedures to customers.
3. Assist customers with amending/cancelling bookings and arranging accommodation/onward travel when service is disrupted.
Cash Handling:
1. Handle cash, credit card transactions, and issue receipts.
Data Entry:
1. Accurately enter customer and ticketing information into databases.
2. Record and relay sailing statistics.
Vessel Movement:
1. Ensure safe and secure mooring of our vessels, following established procedures.
Maintenance and Cleaning:
1. Perform routine maintenance tasks on the pier, including cleaning.
2. Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to supervisors.
Equipment Operation:
1. Operate equipment such as forklifts and vans.
2. Follow proper procedures for the handling of cargo and equipment.
Security and Safety:
1. Monitor the pier area to ensure the safety and security of personnel and property.
2. Enforce safety regulations and emergency procedures.
Outdoor Work:
1. Car marshalling.
2. Directing traffic embarking and disembarking from vessels.

We will also provide a minimum of three weeks full time training which will include a port induction and any necessary role specific system training.

2. You will also receive unsociable hours payment of 12.5 percent for shifts which start before 08:00 and/or end after 19:00. The basic hourly rate will be paid at single time for every hour up to 40 hours per week, every hour above this will be paid at 1.75 times the basic hourly rate.
