University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us.
Please see below for detailed job description of the role.
We are looking for someone who will put patients and communities at the heart of our research. Creative and engaging, you will help the public and researchers work together.
Our growing Southampton Centre for Research Engagement & Impact engages and involves all those with a stake in research. We work across our region's communities and organisations. That drives research to deliver the most benefit for the most people.
You will be joining a dynamic, enthusiastic team committed to giving people a voice. You will support them in sharing their experiences and shaping health and care research through co-production and co-design.
There's a huge range of projects, activities and relationships to take on and grow. We're intent on expanding and developing. You will join us to ensure the people of our region are engaged and equal partners in all that we do.
As one of the largest acute teaching Trusts in England, we offer learning and development opportunities to help you achieve the career you aspire to.
Specific to this role is the suitability for agile working which is a mixture of on-site and remote working. In addition, we are open to discussing flexibility in the hours that you work. Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you need, and we will explore what’s possible for the role and service. UHS employees are able to access a range of NHS discounts, are entitled to a minimum of 35 days paid holiday (pro rata), and we offer a generous pension scheme.
Southampton is an attractive place to live and work situated on the south coast, with an international airport and direct trains to London. The New Forest National Park and beaches of the Jurassic coast are also right on our doorstep. The city offers living costs 20% lower than London and 14 schools rated outstanding by Ofsted.
Your Responsibilities
What you’ll do:
You’ll deliver patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) activities for Southampton’s university-hospital partnership. You’ll build relationships across communities, organisations and our partnership, to connect people and support their co-production of research.
This includes, but is not limited to:
* Delivery and development of PPIE resources, activities and networks
* Supporting a culture of open, inclusive involvement across all our, and our partners, work
* Helping build skills and know-how through delivering training, learning resources and support
* Working regionally, actively developing links, supporting collaborations and building diverse public involvement
In this role, you will:
* Work closely with the public and patients, SCREI colleagues, researchers, external partners and suppliers
* Make sure research teams are supported in their PPIE activities, working with wider SCREI teams across the research cycle and our portfolio
* Work across health subjects and disease areas to engage and involve people in our work
* Be responsible for liaising with research teams, the public and patients to interpret and effectively support needs
What we’re looking for:
We’re looking for someone who thrives on connecting people. You’ll be creative, with strong skills and awareness in inclusive engagement of diverse groups. We need your great people skills to grow relationships across our communities, our departments and different organisations.
True involvement of public and patients in research and its management can be challenging. We’re looking for you to play an active role in making this part of all we do.
Familiarity with PPIE in the NHS R&D, National Institute for Health and Social Care Research and/or clinical academic environment is desirable. But what you’ll need above all is initiative, a commitment to co-production and demonstrable ability in delivering engagement activities. #J-18808-Ljbffr
