Job Title: Team Leader - FTC 12 Months
Reports to: Youth Service Manager
Salary: Scale PO1, Points 33-36 £32,870 - £35,423 per annum, pro rata
Hours of work: Full Time (37.5 hours per week)
FIXED TERM CONTRACT - 12 MONTHS*
Key Responsibilities:
* To deliver effective operational management of the Youth Hub, ensuring compliance with contractual, regulatory, and statutory requirements.
* To ensure fair access and coordination of referrals in line with service criteria incl. delivery of briefing session to key referral agencies.
* To develop and maintain local partnerships with key agencies including, voluntary sector, local authorities, and Private companies.
* To contribute to reporting to the Commissioners within quarterly performance review meetings.
* To maintain close reporting contact with the Youth Hub partnerships to ensure effective service delivery i.e. Housing and Children’s Services.
* To develop and design the service to meet the identified needs of young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
* To identify initiatives to ensure the ongoing development of the projects within the local area.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of the service ensuring the best possible outcomes for young people including homeless prevention through support and mediation, access to statutory services and access to accommodation.
* To support teams to provide high quality support services that promote choice and independence, actively engaging young people in making decisions about their life.
* Contribute to the development of St Basil’s staff, through effective line management and ensuring compliance with standards, contractual and regulatory requirements, best practice and St Basil’s policies and procedures.
* To implement joint working arrangements with local Registered Providers (RPs), the local authority, private landlords to ensure the delivery of an effective Accommodation Finding Service.
* To develop communication channels with young people to empower them to shape and influence the services delivery.
* To measure the performance of the Hub by setting and achieving targets and producing quarterly statistical reports.
* To maintain agreed standards of joint working for all aspects of the service provided.
* To ensure data collection requirements of the project are maintained. Following agreed procedures for the review process incl. effective tracking and monitoring of services.
* To ensure staffing resources meet contractual requirements and that risks and trends are monitored and managed in a timely way with appropriate approvals secured and necessary adjustments made.
* To attend and actively contribute to key meetings i.e. strategic or operational steering groups, case review.
* To deputise for line manager as and when required.
* To ensure that St Basil’s Safeguarding Policy and Procedure is implemented and adhered to by all staff.
* To be part of local on call providing an out of hours service.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential:
* Degree/ HNC
* Relevant Professional – Health & Social Care, Youth & Comm. DMS, Inst. Of Housing. Care & Housing.
* Housing & Business Management, Leadership & Management, Personnel, Care & Support Work (NVQ Level 5)
ROLE EXPERIENCE:
Essential:
* Experience of working with young people in the following settings/types of work – Youth Work, Residential or Social Work, Probation, Community Work, Education and Training, Housing.
* Experience of inter-agency working.
* Experience of delivering training / briefings to those in authority and across multi-agency partnerships.
* Experience of designing and setting up referral pathways and coordinating multi-agency partnerships.
* Experience of partnership development and sustainment.
* Working with Volunteers/Students.
KNOWLEDGE
Essential:
* Housing Rights, Welfare Reform Knowledge.
* Relevant knowledge relating to homelessness, incl. Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
* Knowledge of Children’s Act i.e. Section 17, 20 & 47.
* Knowledge of Safeguarding procedures and legislation, i.e. Care Act 2014.
* Knowledge of and Commitment to E.O.P/Anti-Discriminatory practice/ethical practice.
* Knowledge of Social Skills/Job Training skills.
* Knowledge of local services and agencies relevant to young people in the city.
* Knowledge of the exempt sector in Birmingham.
From 2023 - 2024
3,718 young people received advice and support.
1,616 young people were supported by us during the year.
1,034 young people lived in our 40+ accommodation schemes.
Up to 590 young people lived with us every night.
87% of young people moved on from St Basil’s in a planned, positive way.
