Who Does This Role Report Into? Site Director
Role Summary / Purpose and Scope
Day to day management of laboratory analysis, processing and storage. Other duties will include the maintenance and monitoring of the laboratory environment and equipment, the management of laboratory staff and office-based administration, including managing training. Develop and implement analytical procedures; evaluate laboratory information; report results according to protocols mandated by CSO.

1. Maintain laboratory equipment and performance by adhering to and establishing quality standards; developing operations, quality, and troubleshooting procedures; ensuring staff compliance; certifying instrument performance; arranging equipment replacement, service, and repair.
2. Maintain laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
3. Maintain laboratory productivity by monitoring workload of functional areas; identifying peak and slack periods; making operational or staffing adjustments.
4. Maintain quality results by performing proficiency surveys; reviewing quality control and quality assurance programs; making adjustments in policy and procedures; generating reports; maintaining records.
5. Maintain laboratory information systems by identifying information needs and problems; recommending improvements; establishing priorities; testing; writing user manuals; training employees; maintaining security and confidentiality.
6. Implement new programs, tests, methods, instrumentation, and procedures by investigating alternatives; preparing proposals; developing and performing parallel testing; monitoring progress.
7. Maintain medical laboratory staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees. Complete operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results. Maintains laboratory staff results by counselling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
8. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications.
9. Resolves problems by consulting with the laboratory.
10. Monitoring statutory and internal compliance, including meeting MAPP policies and procedures, RICS and ISO standards and any statutory timelines and escalation requirements.

Experience and Salary
Level of Experience / Certifications:
1. Minimum of three years' experience working in a similar setting.
2. Experience in a laboratory environment ideally within a Laboratory Manager role in an industrial setting (pharma/biotech).
3. A good understanding of life sciences and CGT research techniques.
Qualifications:
1. Degree/HND/NVQ level 4 (or equivalent) essential.
2. NEBOSH/IOSH desirable.
Working Hours: 37.5
Salary Range (Based on Experience): GBP 48,000 - GBP 55,000 per annum, depending on experience.
