The appointee will provide Consultant leadership and psychiatric input to the Acute assessment unit (Mulberry 1) at Fulbourn hospital. They will work with the multidisciplinary team and establish good liaison and links with the community teams., This post consists of 10 Programmed Activities (10 PAs) of which 7.5 PAs are for direct clinical care and 2.5 PAs for supporting activities. The consultant will be responsible for the care of patients admitted to the Mulberry wards, alongside other consultant colleagues. The consultant will work with well-established services alongside other medical and non-medical colleagues in these teams. The appointed consultant will provide strong leadership to the teams and drive further service developments in acute care.
There is robust junior doctor cover in the form of speciality doctors/higher trainees and core psychiatric trainees. In addition, all inpatient teams are supported by FY trainees.
The successful candidate will be working alongside consultant colleagues in the South of the County. The post will involve close working relationship with modern matron, nurse specialists and team managers. There will be opportunities to take on management responsibilities both internally within the trust as well as externally with the Royal College. Mentoring will also be provided to help the new consultant settle in.
