We are seeking an experienced and dedicated PrincipalPharmacy Technician to lead our Aseptic Services team at the UniversityHospital of North Tees. About the Role:
As the Principal Pharmacy Technician, you will takeon a leadership role within the Aseptic Services Unit, overseeing the work ofPharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Assistants. You will be responsible forensuring that our service adheres to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)standards, supporting safe, accurate, and efficient operations. You will alsoplay a key role in managing stock control, ensuring the safe and rational useof products, and providing managerial support to the Pharmacy OperationalManager.

1. Lead, manage, and supervise the Aseptic Services team, ensuring the effective delivery of high-quality services.
2. Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and guidelines related to aseptic manufacturing, compounding, and dispensing.
3. Maintain robust systems of work with proper documentation and procedures, ensuring a safe, accurate, and efficient service.
4. Act as an authorized signatory for pharmacy orders and non-stock requisitions.
5. Manage the production of aseptic products in collaboration with the accountable pharmacist and ensure staff and process validation.
6. Support the development of junior staff through mentorship, training, and participation in their appraisals.
7. Contribute to corporate objectives, including managing sickness absence, promoting staff well-being, and ensuring cost-effective operations.
8. Act as an ASCribe system manager, ensuring the quality of data in the pharmacy system.

About the Role:
As the Principal Pharmacy Technician, you will take on a leadership role within the Aseptic Services Unit, overseeing the work of Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Assistants. You will be responsible for ensuring that our service adheres to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards, supporting safe, accurate, and efficient operations. You will also play a key role in managing stock control, ensuring the safe and rational use of products, and providing managerial support to the Pharmacy Operational Manager.
This role involves acting as a technical team leader, where you will provide direct supervision, training, and support to junior pharmacy staff. You will also assist in staff development and performance, ensuring that team objectives are aligned with the overall goals of the pharmacy service. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the expansion of our Aseptic Services, including the potential development of a Central Intravenous Additive Services (CIVAS) unit.

About You:
You will be a registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and have significant experience in aseptic services, particularly within a hospital setting. The ideal candidate will have completed an Accredited Checking Technician Course and possess excellent attention to detail. Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills are essential, as you will be expected to mentor junior staff and liaise with various healthcare professionals.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
17. Pharmacy Technician Qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) .
18. Registered with the GPhC .
19. Significant experience in aseptic services within a hospital environment.
20. Proficiency in using Windows-based systems, including Microsoft Office applications.
21. Commitment to continuous professional development (CPD).
Desirable Qualifications:
22. Completion of an Accredited Checking Technician Course .
23. Management qualification or experience in a leadership role.
24. Knowledge of the ASCribe Pharmacy System .
