About the Role
To work as a professional in a team providing high quality education with care to children aged 2-5 in the Nursery School and the LA SEND Resource Provision and their families within Everton Nursery School and Family Centre. This is under the overall direction of the Headteacher/Head of Centre and the Leadership Team. Directly responsible for:
1. Being a family worker for a group of children
2. Contributing to observation-based assessment and the team curriculum plans
3. Working as part of a team led by a Teacher/Senior Early Childhood Educator
4. Supporting children with special educational needs and disability and their medical needs
5. Undertaking ongoing professional development
6. With support from senior staff, participating in developing, researching, implementing, articulating and sharing good practice with colleagues and a wide range of visitors.
Personal Qualities
Qualifications and Training:
1. Relevant experience of working with children with the EYFS within a school setting and attained a Grade 3 or equivalent in Early Years and Childcare.
2. Relevant experience of working with children 2-5 years with special educational needs and disability in a school setting
3. Experience of recent training in safeguarding, literacy and numeracy and paediatric first aid
4. Willingness to participate in relevant training and development opportunities
5. High expectations of all children, respect for their social, cultural, linguistic, religious and ethnic backgrounds and commitment to raising their educational achievements
6. Ability to build and maintain successful relationships with children, treat them consistently with respect and consideration and demonstrate concern for their development as learners
7. Demonstrate and promote the positive value, attitudes and behaviour they expect from children with whom they work
8. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and carry out role effectively, knowing when to seek help and advice
9. Able to liaise sensitively and effectively with parents and carers, recognising role in children’s learning
10. A clear understanding of the principles and practices of assessment and how observations can be used effectively to maximize children’s progress. To be able to improve their own practice through observations, evaluation and discussion with colleagues
11. Show a strong commitment to good attendance and punctuality in role
12. Show a strong commitment to safeguarding and equality
13. Be aware of own strengths and areas for development and listen to, and reflect constructively and act upon as appropriate, feedback from others.
