Job summary An opportunity has arisen for a part time ( 28 hrs/ week) Band 4 technical instructor to join the Posture and Mobility Service. We are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals to join our team on a permanent contract. The post holder will provide practical support to registered Occupational Therapist / Physiotherapist to facilitate the provision of wheelchairs and associated equipment to clients referred to Posture and mobility wheelchair service. The service covers a wide geographical area in north Wales, satellite working covers Wrexham, Flint-shire, Denbighshire, Conwy, Gwynedd, Anglesey, Ceredigion and Powys and the Health, Social Services, Education and private establishments within these areas. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of clinical, technical and administrative staff. Main duties of the job The key objectives of the post are: To support the Therapists in the assessment, organisation, implementation, and evaluation of therapy and multi-disciplinary team interventions. Be responsible for assessment of the client's equipment needs to determine whether equipment is still required, if so safe for use, no longer needed or requires referral for new provision. To assess client's wheelchair skills/techniques, carry out practice and training to encourage independence, including individual indoor/outdoor powered training sessions and testing in a varied environment for clients that have a powered wheelchair. Assist clients before, during and following review ensuring their safety, comfort, privacy and dignity. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
