Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Good general education and must be numerate and literate
Desirable criteria
2. GCSE Science or higher
Experience
Essential criteria
3. Work in NHS or hospital environment
4. Experience of work in a mortuary
5. Experience of cross site working arrangements
6. Proven experience of handling challenging and emotional situations with bereaved families
7. Experience of presenting the deceased for family viewing purposes
Desirable criteria
8. Liaising with Medical Examiners team
9. Liaising with bereavement team
Technical Skills Competencies
Essential criteria
10. Ability to undergo training as and when required to do so
11. Knowledge and experience to teach portering staff safe use of mortuary equipment
12. Knowledge and experience to teach nursing staff mortuary requirement from Last Offices Policy
Desirable criteria
13. Proficient use of EPR
14. First aid
Knowledge
Essential criteria
15. Ability to develop knowledge of the importance and relevance of mortuary services
16. Knowledge and understanding of data protection and patient confidentiality
17. Knowledge of Health & Safety in the workplace
18. Knowledge of the Human Tissue Act
Desirable criteria
19. APT qualification
20. ECDL or similar computer skills
