Job Brief
The role involves working within the Hastings Locksmiths Team, carrying out a multitude of locksmithing tasks in accordance with British Standards and Company guidelines. As part of our team, you will receive ongoing training, support and development. We have great opportunities to help install and maintain work for our existing and new client base, these opportunities are in the domestic and commercial sectors, offering a wide range of services.
This is a team-based role, but the ability to work confidently and effectively on your own initiative will be paramount. You must be well presented, a quick learner, and able to hit the ground running in a fast-paced environment.
Duties can change from time to time subject to client’s requirements and change to the marketplace.
Contractual Information
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Probation Period: 6 Months
Hours of Work: Monday – Friday, 8.30am – 5pm with a 30minute unpaid break for lunch
Salary: £27k to £30k per annum subject to experience.
You will receive 22 days of paid holiday plus all UK statutory Bank Holidays, which increases with time served. You will also be auto-enrolled onto the workplace pension scheme after 3-months, you can opt-out should you choose.

Main Responsibilities
• Lock installation, maintenance, repairs and replacement.
• Gain entry services.
• Shop duties:
Serving customers.
Key cutting.
Ordering and replenishing stock.
General Duties
• To be familiar with the companies’ policies, procedures and guidelines which are set out in the Employee Handbook. Particularly, those associated with Health and Safety.
• To undertake training and development essential for the role.
• To complete a 6-month probationary period and participate in annual appraisals with your line manager to monitor performance and set objectives.
• To undertake any other reasonable duty, at the same level of responsibility, that has been requested by senior staff.
Person Specification
Experience, Skills & Competencies Required (Technical & Practical Experience)
The candidate should have 5 years’ experience within the locksmithing industry and should:
• Have experience in the following:
Industrial, commercial and domestic settings.
UPVC, composite, metal and timber door, window furniture and lock fitting, both repair and maintenance.
Electric locking systems.
Multi-suited locking systems.
• Have a good all-round knowledge of modern locking systems and multi-locking systems.
• Have undertaken approved or recognised locksmithing training.
• Be skilled in non-destructive access to most locking systems, i.e. rim, mortice and multi-lock.
• Fluent in the English language, both spoken and written, as well as being literate and numerate.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Have the ability to correspond clearly, concisely, and politely with colleagues, customers, and external organisations, whether by telephone, face to face or written communication.
• Have basic IT skills using MS Word, MS Outlook etc.
• Have the skills to be multi-faceted and the ability to carry out numerous duties across various departments.
• Have own tools.
• Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable
• Member of the Master Locksmith Association (MLA).
• Carpentry skills.
• Experience in access control systems.
• Safe installation, maintenance and repair.
