Job summary
We are seeking a dynamic, ambitious, and motivated Senior Healthcare Support Worker to join the Vascular Surgery team in the Vascular Surgery Rapid Access Outpatient Clinics.
The role involves providing clinical support for our vascular rapid access outpatient clinic, including seeing patients with diabetic foot disease and urgent vascular problems.
The post holder will work closely with the vascular clinic nurses, clinical nurse specialists, vascular scientists, podiatrists, and other multidisciplinary team members. This position is ideal for someone enthusiastic and proactive in a busy outpatient setting.
Main duties of the job
1. Ensuring efficient patient throughput in clinics
2. Removing and replacing dressings
3. Offering basic patient care
4. Booking appointments and responding to patient inquiries
5. Completing baseline vascular tests (training provided)
6. Supporting clinic operations as needed

* Being the first point of contact for patients and staff queries
* Updating patient attendance and appointment details accurately
* Preparing clinic notes and paperwork
* Participating in audits
* Welcoming patients and guiding them within the clinic
* Working in Vascular HOT and Diabetic foot clinics, performing vascular tests (training provided)
* Ensuring safe manual handling
* Reporting vascular test results
* Providing basic patient care, including dressing changes and cannula removal (training provided)
* Answering phones and passing messages
* Maintaining equipment and supplies
* Assisting with patient escorts and other duties as required
* Supporting appointment bookings and scheduling
* Adhering to guidelines and participating in appraisals
Person Specification
Education & Qualifications
* Essential: Level 3 NVQ/QCF Diploma in Healthcare or equivalent + Level 2 Qualification
* GCSE A-C in English and Maths or equivalent
* Evidence of full-time education achievements
* Desirable: Completion of Band 3 Clinical Skills Training (venepuncture, cannulation, measurements)
Work Experience
* Essential: At least 12 months experience in health or social care; support worker experience; good time management skills
* Desirable: Recent hospital experience; wound care knowledge
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
* Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
* Accurate documentation skills
* Awareness of healthcare policies and procedures
* Basic IT skills (Word, Email)
* Commitment to high-quality patient care
