A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen, giving you the opportunity to join our expanding Adult Social Care department. If you are an experienced Social Worker looking for a new challenge or a Newly Qualified Social Worker looking for an excellent start to your career this could be the opportunity for you.
To help us to recruit Social Workers who are committed to working in Middlesbrough we are currently offering a 10% market supplement to Social Work salaries. This additional 10% will be reviewed at the end of March 2025.
An Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) payment is made on the basis that an employee participates in the AMHP rota. If an employee can only commit to a proportion of the rota, for instance they work part-time, the payment will be pro-rata’d to account for this. It is an expectation of the AMHP role that employees participate in the rota, however, there may on occasion be exceptional circumstances that will not allow an employee to participate. Those who do not participate will not receive the additional payment and continue to be paid at the appropriate level for the work being undertaken.
Middlesbrough is changing, with a thriving University and new high quality office buildings in the centre of town we are seeing a large professional business moving into Middlesbrough and leisure facilities emerging to support the staff that they attract. Middlesbrough is growing and with easy access to beautiful coastline and the North Yorkshire Moors it is a great place to live and work.
You will find that Middlesbrough is a proud town with a strong sense of identity and history. With a complex mix of nationalities and ethnicities alongside a post-industrial history of chronic ill-health and some of the most deprived wards in England it is a challenging but extremely rewarding place to work as a Social Worker.
Our focus is on supporting vulnerable adults over 18 with a wide range of needs, including physical disabilities, learning disabilities, autism, substance use, domestic abuse, mental health, and homelessness. If you have experience in these areas or a keen interest in supporting and learning more about these needs, this could be the role you are looking for.
We are looking for an enthusiastic qualified Social Worker who can effectively manage a complex caseload of clients with severe and enduring mental health needs whilst assessing the social care needs of individuals to deliver comprehensive care plans to meet specific needs.
Due to the nature of this role, you will hold an interesting and varied caseload so being adaptable and flexible is key to your success. In return you will receive superb training opportunities and career planning alongside, flexible working with the option of a blended working environment (home and office where appropriate).
New staff joining Middlesbrough can expect a warm welcome from the team, directors and Chief Executive as well as workplace buddy and full induction process. Applicants are sought from individuals who have an interest in Mental Health. For newly qualified Social Workers we provide a high level of support to complete the Assessed and Supported Year of Employment (ASYE) with experienced Social Workers providing regular and tailored guidance and input. For experience Social Workers there are opportunities for further professional development including training as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP).
For those already qualified as AMHP following approval to practice a generous market supplement is available. At Middlesbrough, we truly live our values and incorporate them into everything we do. We are passionate about improving the lives of our residents, focused on achieving best outcomes, and creative in the way we work with customers, ensuring they get the best support available.
If you are a qualified Social Worker with the skills and the drive to help continue to improve services and support for our adults, this could be the opportunity you have been waiting for.
