Our Global Technology Centre
Our new Global Technology Centre (GTC) in Filton, Bristol is a £32m state of the art technology research and development facility. It acts as a hub for world-class innovative technology for the next generation of fuel-efficient aircraft. It offers a collaborative space for research and development with universities, the UK’s CATAPULT network and GKN Aerospace’s UK supply chain, to help strengthen aerospace technology and support the UK’s Industrial strategy.
About The Role
Placements in the GKN digital and simulation technology cluster are available for enthusiastic candidates seeking to develop knowledge and skill in developing new digital and AI processes to support the manufacturing of the next generation of aircraft. Typically we evaluate and develop digital technologies such as factory simulation, machine data handling and analytics and AI technologies to improve our manufacturing and business processes. We deliver these technologies across GKN sites, both nationally and internationally.
You will spend the bulk of your time at our GTC where we have the facility to develop digital technologies within our test environment prior to roll out to the wider GKN community.
Our internships will offer the opportunity to be involved with some of the following:
1. Support the development of mature technology for GKN factory applications and industrial roll out of i4.0 technologies
2. Support processes for IT engagement
3. Support the connectivity for factory IIOT devices
4. Standardise cyber security of devices
5. Support in developing standards (shop floor devices & equipment)
6. Investigate data opportunities for automation and robotics
Qualifications
In order to be considered for one of these roles you will need to be studying towards a degree, or have completed your studies in one of the following subjects:
* Any engineering or computer science based degree
In addition have the following characteristics:
* Honesty, Curiosity, Consideration, Diplomatic
* Curiosity
* Exceptional Organisational skills
* Be highly motivated
* Strong executive character
