HSE Recruitment Network are recruiting for an Environmental Associate, with the opportunity to represent a forward-thinking, multinational company. The role will be focused on supporting and encouraging operations personnel to ensure compliance with relevant company and statutory environmental-related requirements. You will also take a lead role in actively helping to retain the businesses ISO14001 Environmental certification, whilst playing a key role in promoting a proactive environmental management culture on site that helps to minimise environmental impacts.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Raising awareness with respective site departments regarding the impact of emerging environmental issues, whether legislative or best practice.
2. Respond proactively to environmental incidents, track incidents and actions to closure, and perform investigations to identify root causes.
3. Work with the operations team to deliver environmental objectives in line with company requirements.
4. Promote a positive culture amongst the workforce by encouraging active participation in environmental initiatives and be the subject matter expert in all environmental-related activities.
5. Review environmental aspects and impacts for works onsite and advise on appropriate controls as and when required.
6. Provide support to the COMAH Environmental Safety Report for all site activities employing CDOIF guidelines, ensuring the site cannot cause a Major Accident to the Environment (MATTE).
7. Manage flora, fauna & ecology aspects across site, which include identification of potential ecological constraints and enhancement opportunities.
8. Assist in the ability to implement EMS in operations to prevent pollution and ensure suitable processes and procedures are in place taking account of relevant standards.
9. Develop environmental strategies across all areas of the site.
10. Conduct internal audits in compliance with ISO: 14001.
Essential Experience, Training and Qualifications:
* Environmental NEBOSH
* Proven experience working with Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001)
* Experience with environmental risk assessments
* Experience in auditing
Desirable:
* Environmental Degree/Diploma
* Experience in COMAH regulations (2015)
* IEMA Membership or member of another relevant professional body
* Internal/Lead 14001 Auditor Qualification
