Title: Senior Decommissioning Engineers Salary range: £55,000 to £65,000 per annum Location: Glasgow, Bristol or Gloucester (flexible hybrid working, with time split between the office, client sites and working from home) Closing date for this role is 17th January but we encourage early applications The Frazer-Nash Energy and Infrastructure Business Unit is a vibrant and growing area with a focus on delivery of high-quality expertise and services across multiple energy sectors and development of staff and tools to operate within highly regulated industries. In particular, the Energy Assurance technical area provides significant support to our Civil Nuclear business area deploying engineering, project management and safety case skills across Decommissioning, Fusion, Generation and New Build areas. It is an exciting time across all of these sectors, but we are particularly prioritising the growth and development of our Nuclear Decommissioning and Waste Management groups. Frazer-Nash Consultancy are looking to bolster our team with talented individuals to continue to develop our service delivery and increase our support to the nuclear decommissioning market providing services in nuclear clean-up and waste management. Our Nuclear Decommissioning groups work on a wide range of projects for clients across our Nuclear Decommissioning sector. As such, we are looking for talented engineers with experience/knowledge of: Nuclear Engineering: Understanding nuclear physics, reactor operations, and radiation protection is crucial for managing decommissioning processes safely. Radiological Safety : Knowledge of radiation measurement, monitoring, and safety protocols to protect workers and the public. Environmental Engineering : Skills in assessing and mitigating environmental impacts, including waste management, exotic wastes and site remediation. Mechanical and Structural Engineering : Proficiency in dismantling structures and systems, as well as understanding material properties and behaviour under decommissioning conditions. Chemical Engineering : Knowledge of chemical processes involved in waste treatment and decontamination. Systems Engineering : Understanding of integrating various engineering disciplines to ensure comprehensive decommissioning solutions. Regulatory Compliance : Familiarity with local, national, and international regulations governing nuclear sites, decommissioning and waste disposal. We are looking for experienced individuals with relevant experience in nuclear engineering, decommissioning and waste management with a background in a STEM discipline such as Mechanical, Electrical, Process Engineering, and/or Chemists and Physicists with a nuclear decommissioning or waste management/storage background. Essential Requirements: Degree or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or Maths (or equivalent). Mid level Nuclear Engineering experience, preferably within the nuclear decommissioning sector. Demonstrable experience of working in a nuclear decommissioning or waste management role. Be Chartered in their discipline (or working towards Chartership). Ability to operate autonomously or as part of a team. Excellent communication and organisational skills. Experience of working closely with the ONR and/or government bodies.
