Bletchley Park is a vibrant heritage attraction, open daily to visitors, revealing the secrets and telling fascinating stories of the covert British World War Two codebreaking operations. The mission of the Bletchley Park Trust is to attract, engage and educate people from all over the world in order to inspire them with Bletchley Park’s crucial role in World War Two.
We are seeking an experienced Learning Officer to join our team. Reporting to the Learning Manager, you will support the day-to-day operational delivery of both on and off-site learning activities for different groups including families, early years, primary, secondary, colleges, universities, and SEND, ensuring they are relevant to Bletchley Park and responsive to audience needs.
You will assist with the collation of learning resources, producing and writing content for our formal and informal sessions, and will manage and develop the team which includes our volunteers and learning session leaders. A key aspect of the role will be overseeing team administration, such as timesheets and expenses.
To be successful, you will have experience of teaching in an education, museum, or heritage environment and have a practical understanding of curriculum content and STEM principles, applying these to activities and learning sessions. You will be able to adapt written and verbal communication styles for different audiences and be comfortable presenting to a group.
You will have experience of managing others and possess strong organisational and administrative skills enabling you to plan and adapt your priorities as needed. Proficiency in the use of IT, including Microsoft Office Software, is essential. Knowledge of current educational trends within the museum and heritage sector would be beneficial.
Bletchley Park is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and adults at risk and expects all staff, volunteers, and external agencies to share this commitment. As part of this role, you will undertake the role of Designated Safeguarding Officer, delivering safeguarding training to staff and volunteers. Therefore, the successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure & Barring Service and appropriate references.
This is a full-time role of 37.5 hours per week, with usual office hours being Monday to Friday, 9.00am until 5.00pm. Based on site at Bletchley Park, Milton Keynes (MK3 6EB). Due to the nature of this role, some evening or weekend work, travel, and overnight stays will be required on occasion to deliver our outreach offer.
