Job Description
Due to a secondment in the business, we are looking for a warehouse automation professional to join the Smiths News Operations team for a fixed-term contract of between two and three years with an immediate start available.
The role involves providing management and ownership support of existing warehouse technologies, along with project management support for equipment deployments. The position is based at our Head office in Swindon with depot visits as required, working within a hybrid and flexible model.
About the role
* Manage a small field-based support team, ensuring uptime targets are met and maintenance schedules are followed.
* Oversee the estate of rugged mobile handsets, including administration via MDM/EMM, and recommend replacement programs.
* Manage vendor relationships for technology supply and support.
Responsibilities
* Manage day-to-day operations of the field team supporting 34 depots nationwide.
* Ensure uptime of warehouse technologies like pick-by-light, sortation, and thermal printing systems.
* Maintain and configure approximately 1,000 rugged mobile computers.
* Manage external relationships with key technology suppliers and manufacturers.

About you
* Experience in account management and warehouse automation solutions
* Enterprise mobility experience
* Excellent communication skills across all organizational levels
* Ability to articulate complex solutions clearly
* Self-motivated and autonomous working style
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Note: You must have the right to work in the UK to be considered.
* Experience in Transport & Logistics/3PL sector
* Knowledge of Business Intelligence tools
* End-to-end experience in warehouse solution delivery
* Familiarity with Transport Management and Routing Systems
* Database knowledge and proficiency in Excel
