Project Estimator - MEP/ Passive Fire
Location: Nottingham
Salary: Circa £45,000 per annum
Position: Full-time, Office-based
My client is currently seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Project Estimator to join their dynamic Sales Team in Nottingham. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with experience in estimating, ideally in the construction or MEP systems field, to support the operations by producing accurate and compliant quotations for clients.
As a Project Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing estimates and forecasts for the design, installation, and maintenance of MEP systems, with a particular focus on Smoke Ventilation Systems. This role requires strong communication skills, the ability to interpret technical drawings and client specifications, and a proactive approach to building strong relationships with clients and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Produce accurate estimates and forecasts for MEP systems, particularly Smoke Ventilation Systems.
2. Write clear and structured quotations based on client requirements.
3. Read and interpret site drawings and reports to ensure accurate estimations.
4. Stay up-to-date with industry legislation and best practices.
5. Prepare bills of materials and quotations from client specifications.
6. Effectively prioritise workloads to meet client deadlines.
7. Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients and internal teams.
Key Skills and Experience:
1. Previous experience in estimating is essential (background in MEP Systems is advantageous).
2. Familiarity with compiling rates from first principles.
3. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage tight deadlines.
4. Strong customer relations and communication skills.
5. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Knowledge of Bolster or similar systems is a plus.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
7. A good understanding of industry standards and regulations.
Qualifications:
1. Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Office 365).
2. Ideally, a construction-related qualification to at least NVQ Level 3 or ONC.
3. A minimum of 6 months' experience in a similar role is preferred.
4. Previous administration or operations experience is essential.
5. A willingness to learn and undergo further training within the construction industry.
