We are seeking
a motivated Research Assistant to join our team focused on novel betacoronavirus vaccine development at the MRC Translational Immune Discovery Unit, Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, University of Oxford. This role centres on projects related to the development of alternative mosaic nanoparticle pan-SARS-like betacoronavirus vaccines. We are working towards developing novel mosaic nanoparticle vaccines against sarbecoviruses that are more potent and easier to manufacture. The postholder will play a key role in supporting the pre-clinical development of these new vaccine candidates, including their production, characterisation, and evaluation of immune responses. About You The postholder is expected to manage own research and administrative activities, within guidelines provided by senior colleagues, attention to detail and evaluation of the literature in vaccine research, immunology and virology, to develop and perform in in vivo and in vitro assays, Responsible for general laboratory management and administration, including stock control of laboratory consumables, gather, analyse, and present scientific data from a variety of sources, and contribute to scientific reports and journal articles and the presentation of data/papers at conferences. Represent the research group at external meetings/seminars, either with other members of the group or alone. You will hold a qualification in relevant area of science (e.g., immunology, virology, molecular biology, or related disciplines), have experience working in a research laboratory, proficiency in tissue culture and molecular. Experience in working with laboratory animals or willingness to undergo training to work with laboratory animals are essential for this post. The post is full-time and fixed-term for 2 years.
