Purpose of position
To be responsible for all duties of a Deputy Manager and aspects of the Home Manager, including taking complete charge in the absence of the Home Manager.
To promote a caring environment for service users through high standards of professional practice which are conducive to the physical, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual needs of the service users.
To utilise his/her resources and expertise in the care of the Residents, and develop close working relationships with outside agencies, e.g. GP, DN’s, CPN’s etc.
To ensure that the Home is adequately staffed, and efficiently managed.
To be involved in the recruitment of Staff of various grades, and in their induction and training.
Principal Responsibilities include:
1. Help to ensure that all staff contributes to the best of their ability to the efficient running of the home and the creation of the right atmosphere.
2. Assist service users with their personal care needs and help to provide health supervision and attention through direct care when needed.
3. To ensure that the emotional, spiritual, physical, medical and material needs of the service users are recognised, assessed and met.
4. To promote relationships which enable each service user to participate in social activities within the home and in the life of the local community to the maximum of their ability.
5. To support service users in the taking of decisions in matters which affect their life style.
6. Help with the formulation of social and health care plans for new service users and with service user reviews.
7. Help to ensure the provision of health care arrangements which will include, control the issue of drugs for which the home has taken responsibility and to maintain the necessary records.
8. Participate in the development of activities for service users in which they can join and which will enhance their quality of life.
9. Help to ensure that the preparation, cooking and serving of food meet the required standards.
10. Help to ensure that rooms and common spaces are properly cleaned and maintained and adequately heated.
11. To assist the Home Manager to ensure that there is good communication with and between staff. Participate in staff meetings and in staff training and development activities.
12. Support the Home Manager in his or her duties as the "responsible officer" for the home under the Health and Safety at Work, etc Act 1974 and the fire regulations.
13. Help the Home Manager maintain such log books and records as may be required by the registering authority.
14. To liaise with and co-operate with inspectors and inspections that are carried out by CQC, Local Authority, Safeguarding and Environmental Health etc.
15. To ensure that employment protection legislation is implemented.
Communication
* Act courteously toward residents and their visitors, respecting the dignity and individuality of each resident and ensure effective communication is maintained.
* Participate in Staff and Client meetings as and when required.
* To ensure manager is informed of any issues or concerns regarding residents, staff members and building.
Other Duties
* Always act in a manner which respects and promotes the confidentiality of Service Users, Staff and any other involved parties.
* Adhere to all Company policies and procedures.
* You may be required to perform other duties within your capacity, according to the needs of the business.
* To ensure confidentiality is promoted and kept at all times in line with GDPR.
