Job overview
The Cardiac Investigations team at Worthing are looking to appoint a permanent full-time Chief Cardiac Physiologist with a specialist interest in Echo to assist in providing a high quality, patient-centred, Cardiac Investigations service.
We are a forward-thinking department offering a wide range of invasive and non-invasive investigations and therapies including Transthoracic Echocardiography, Transoesophageal Echocardiography, Ambulatory Monitoring, Exercise Tolerance Testing, Pacemaker, ICD and Complex device implantation and follow up, angiography, angioplasty, Rotablation, AV Node Ablation and Pulmonary Vein Isolation. We are striving to set up Physiologist led services and aim to provide and assist staff in Continuing Professional Development. We hold Echo meetings weekly with our Imaging Consultant, as well as monthly educational meetings within the wider Cardiology team and Clinical Governance meetings.
Main duties of the job
* Performing echocardiograms
* Recording images of cardiac structures in both 2D and M Mode
* Performing and recognising the implications of Pulse Wave and Continuous Wave Doppler Studies
* Being fully conversant with all structural abnormalities to enable appropriate views to be recorded
* Being able to interpret test results
* Performing studies in the department as well as portable studies on the Wards, including I.T.U, H.D.U, Theatres, theatre Recovery and A&E when required
* Being able to perform studies under difficult conditions
* Being able to recognise and act upon abnormal findings
* Being aware of patient condition and when to call for Physician assistance
* Communicating results as and when necessary
* Keeping up to date with new technologies and techniques
* Attending training courses when staffing levels allow
* Planning and organising own workload
* Supporting and training colleagues and other members of staff
* Being responsible for own continuing personal and professional development
* Promoting a culture of collaborative working to improve patient quality of care

Qualifications
* BSc Clinical Physiology, BSc Healthcare Science or equivalent
* Current ILS/ALS
Professional Registration
* Registration with RCCP/AHCS/HCPC
* BSE Accreditation
Experience
* Minimum of 2 years experience Band 6
* Evidence of formal/informal teaching experience
* Evidence of CPD
* Evidence of high degree of clinical acumen in related fields
* Evidence of supervisory experience
