BCL Legal is delighted to be assisting a leading national law firm on this fantastic career opportunity for a Senior Housing Corporate Governance Lawyer to join a leading national team with a focus on social housing. This is a unique role for an experienced and ambitious lawyer to take on a key leadership position, build on an already strong platform, and help drive the continued growth of a market-leading team.
The Role:
As a Salaried Partner or Senior Lawyer, you will:
- Lead and advise clients in the social housing sector on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and legal structures for housing organisations, including registered societies, co-operatives, and social enterprises.
- Provide strategic legal guidance on mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, and group structures, playing a key role in helping clients navigate complex corporate issues and ensuring compliance with housing regulations.
- Develop and review governance policies and constitutional documents, advising clients on matters such as board composition, decision-making, and conflict management.
- Support housing boards and senior executives with training, risk management, and governance procedures, ensuring robust oversight and compliance across the organisation.
- Manage complex legal issues and provide high-level, strategic advice on charity law, regulatory compliance, and housing finance, with a focus on public sector organisations and registered providers.
About You:
Our client is looking for an individual with:
- At least 8 years of relevant experience, specifically in corporate governance, mergers & acquisitions, regulatory compliance, and advising registered providers.
- A deep understanding of housing regulation, charity law, and corporate structures relevant to the social housing sector, with experience advising on mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring projects.
- Strong leadership and entrepreneurial skills, with a proven ability to grow and lead a team, build client relationships, and drive business development.
- An appetite for autonomy and responsibility, with the motivation and ambition to take this successful practice to the next level, expanding its footprint in the social housing sector.
- Experience with the establishment of registered providers and a proven track record of working on corporate governance, M&A work, and regulatory matters.
