The role As Head of Procurement UK, you will be responsible for overseeing and leading the procurement function within the On-Demand business. You will drive margin growth, streamline procurement operations, and establish strategic supplier relationships to support the division’s continued success and expansion. This role demands exceptional leadership, strategic vision, and strong collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. To excel in this role, we are seeking a leader with a blend of strategic expertise, commercial acumen, and operational excellence. Responsibilities Develop and foster strategic global relationships, particularly in the UK, directly with manufacturers while promoting the "One Uniphar" ethos. Manage relationships with key internal stakeholders, including Operations, Quality, Finance, and HR, to align procurement strategies with broader business goals. Oversee and support the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process to maintain optimal stock levels while adhering to budgetary constraints. Lead a team of buyers to develop and implement efficient demand and supply chain planning through effective leadership and strong process implementation Conduct monthly analysis and monitoring of competitor commercial activities and offerings to identify new strategic opportunities. Own and manage supplier relationships, understanding supply chain constraints, mitigating risks, and ensuring escalation processes for any supply gaps. Develop a best-in-class product and supplier portfolio, pursuing exclusive arrangements where possible, and maintaining accurate, up-to-date pricing and availability. Lead and support the onboarding of new distribution agreements while developing a UK-specific procurement strategy, including supplier analysis, development, and preferred vendor management. Identify and promote new opportunities for manufacturer distribution offerings across the UK and Ireland. Champion the offering of complementary services available across the Uniphar business. Expand the EMP (Emergency Medicines Portfolio) offerings to better serve the UK hospital base. Build relationships with and support the Trading functions across Uniphar businesses in Ireland, The Netherlands, USA and Australia. Collaborate with A&D teams to identify synergies and optimize procurement spend across the On-Demand business. Manage supplier and vendor performance, including regular performance review meetings with key strategic suppliers. Develop and implement a 30, 60, 90, and 120-day plan to execute and refine the overarching procurement strategy. Key Skills & Experience Previous experience in a pharmaceutical or biotech company, specifically in procurement, business development, licensing, or evaluation capacities. A strategic mindset with the ability to translate high-level business objectives into actionable deliverables. Strong negotiation and contract management skills with the proven ability to close deals under tight deadlines. Advanced demonstrable knowledge of analytical techniques including price volume matrix, quote analysis, project management driving the ability to plan, manage and co-ordinate multiple category sourcing projects Conduct and report on Supply Chain research and benchmarking to supplier strategies and movements in key impact on costs Proven track record of leading a team within a procurement or trading environment requiring high attention to detail and a Right First Time approach. Exceptional commercial acumen paired with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Resilience, tenacity, and a proven ability to lead under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Comfortable navigating ambiguity and thriving in an agile, entrepreneurial culture. A working knowledge of ERP, Business Intelligence (BI) tools, and CRM systems (e.g., Across). Proven experience in supplier/vendor performance management and improvement initiatives. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing stakeholders across all levels of the organization. Strong marketing, presentation, and communication skills to drive key projects and initiatives. Ability to work autonomously, while fostering cross-functional collaboration and teamwork. CIPS qualification is desirable How we’d like to work together Due to the expected key outcomes associated with this role by its nature it will be a role based out of one of our offices across the UK, Ireland or Europe. There will be an element of hybrid working available, but this role will also involve travel to our global sites.
