The role requires running a targeted group offer for small groups of children, outreach work to Family Hubs and Children Centres across Wandsworth and some home visiting.

You will be part of the wider Early Years Inclusion team who provide support to both children, parents and Early Years settings to enable children with emerging SEND to access their Early Years entitlement.

About The Role
As an Early Years SEND Play and Family Worker, you will provide targeted play sessions for children with SEND needs and support their parents / carers. Working as a member of the SEND Play and Family team, your role will be to deliver stay play and learn sessions and provide advice, support and modelling to parents / carers. You will work alongside other team members within the Early Years Inclusion Team around processes for the identification of children and to deliver a training programme for staff in Children Centres and Early Years settings. This is a public-facing post and home working is not appropriate.
Essential Qualifications, Skills And Experience
* A successful track record of experience in a service for Early Years children with special educational needs and disabilities.
* Substantial knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policy and practice, Child development, Early Years Foundation Stage attainment levels and age-related expectations, legislative and statutory requirements relating to children resulting from the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and relevant Regulations linked to the Children and Families Act (2014), including Ofsted requirements.
* An ability to model and support colleagues to ensure the best possible services are provided to meet the needs of Early Years children with SEND.
* Substantial experience and evidence-based practice in the pedagogy linked to Early Childhood Education and the ability to integrate this into practice, service delivery and partnership working.
* Experience of ensuring work is recorded and evidenced to demonstrate impact for children, young people, and their families.
* A professional qualification in a related field: A range of specific qualifications could be appropriate such as Qualified Teacher Status, Early Childhood Education or recognised / substantial SEND qualifications.
