Join the B4B Payments family today and experience the future of payments for yourself About the role The Senior Compliance Officer will have a global mandate, although a large portion of their responsibilities will cover UK regulatory obligations. The Compliance Officer plays a critical role in ensuring that the organisation adheres to regulatory, card scheme requirements and internal policies. By providing expert guidance, leading training initiatives, and leading compliance activities, the Compliance Officer helps maintain a strong compliance culture and mitigates regulatory and reputational risks. Responsibilities: Point of Contact for First Line Regulatory Compliance: Serve as a contact for regulatory, financial crime compliance queries and advice from the first line of defence (operational and business units). Provide timely and accurate guidance to ensure business activities comply with relevant regulations and internal policies. Regulatory Horizon Scanning: Continuously monitor and analyse the regulatory landscape to identify new and evolving regulations that impact the business. Evaluate the implications of regulatory changes and communicate potential impacts and recommendations to relevant stakeholders. Interpret complex regulatory requirements and provide clear, practical guidance to the first line, ensuring regulatory compliance. Liaise with legal counsel to obtain expert legal interpretations and integrate legal advice into compliance guidance. Regulatory Training Plans and Delivery: Deliver training sessions to ensure that employees understand and comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies of the firm. Management Information and Compliance Reporting: Reporting on compliance metrics and issues to the Senior Compliance Officer, providing recommendations for improvement and remediation as appropriate. Incident/Issues Management: Investigate and manage compliance incidents and risks, ensuring timely and effective resolution. Prepare well organised and succinct reports on route causes for senior management Recommend corrective actions and oversee the implementation of enhanced controls to prevent recurrence. Track remedial actions through to closure, highlighting to senior management tasks reported as overdue or where extension requests have been requested. Enterprise Wide Risk Assessment Ensure the firm’s risk assessment is kept up to date with regulatory requirements and industry guidance. Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators and partners institutions where appropriate, to foster strong relationships and ensure transparent communication. Represent the company in regulatory forums and industry groups. Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of continuous improvement in compliance practices across the organisation. Identify opportunities for enhancing the compliance framework and implement best practices. Additional Tasks: As required by the Head of Compliance and MLRO Requirement Essential (Need to have) Regulatory Knowledge: Deep knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines within the industry applicable to an Electronic Money Institution operating in the UK. Ability to stay updated with new and evolving regulatory requirements with the ability to interpret complex information. Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex regulations and apply them to business operations. Keen attention to detail to ensure thorough analysis and accurate interpretation of regulatory requirements. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal communication skills to provide clear and concise regulatory guidance and training. Strong written communication skills for drafting policies, reports, and training materials. Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including operational teams and senior management. Effective engagement with external stakeholders, such as regulators and industry groups. Leadership and Training: Leadership skills to guide and influence the first line of defence in compliance matters. Experience in developing and delivering effective compliance training programs. Critical Thinking: Ability to think strategically about the implications of regulatory changes and how they affect the organisation. Sound decision-making skills to provide appropriate guidance and resolve compliance issues. Project Management: Strong organisational skills to manage multiple compliance projects and initiatives simultaneously. Excellent time management skills to meet deadlines and ensure timely completion of compliance activities. IT and Technical Skills: Proficiency with compliance management systems and other relevant software tools. Ability to analyse data and metrics to assess compliance performance and identify areas for improvement. Ethical Judgement: High level of integrity and ethical judgement to maintain trust and credibility within the organisation. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with discretion. Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing regulatory environments and business needs.
