The Role
As a Senior Project Accountant, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary; supporting the delivery of current and future projects, within our Warships support business unit.
Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for the preparation of monthly financial reporting routines and providing financial expertise and cost control guidance to the project teams, as well as playing a supporting role in the production of new contractual reports required by our customer:
* Assisting the finance and senior management team to implement changes within the Business Unit to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
* Focus on continual improvement of processes, a key element of this will be a focus on increased cost controls and management reporting.
* Prepare Project status reports, support project teams to maximise profitability and control expenditure.
* Prepare contractually required reports and maintain reporting systems.
* Support the production of monthly financial reports.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and requires regular travel to our Devonport site, in Plymouth, on a weekly basis alongside home working arrangements.
Essential Experience of the Senior Project Accountant:
* Experience in a similar project accountancy / finance role.
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
* Experience with Finance IT applications (IFS etc).
* High quality communication ability, both written and orally.
* Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at a senior level.
Qualifications for the Senior Project Accountant:
* Ideally, you will fully hold a recognised professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, ACMA, CIMA, ICAEW, ICAS) or equivalent / similar but, you must be part qualified as a minimum.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
