An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Management Accountant to join the finance team at Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare, one of the largest Foundation Trusts in the UK, specialising in mental health, adult and child community health and learning disabilities across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. This is a key support role for the effective working of the Trust's management accounting teams and to the overall success of the organisation and which will allow you to develop core competencies for further career progression in NHS financial management. The post holder is expected to provide Financial Information to the Financial Management Team, Budget Holders, and other relevant officers, to support decision making in the effective use of financial resources for delivering quality healthcare.
The Financial Management team is responsible for delivering accurate and easy to understand financial information and providing quality financial advice, working alongside the Divisions to make the best decisions for the Trust and patients. Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for undertaking monthly tasks under supervision of the senior management accountant, including preparing and posting income and expenditure journals, investigating reasons for financial variances and undertaking benchmark comparisons as well as holding regular and routine budgetary performance meetings with operational colleagues. The role will regularly involve associated with financial management, financial planning, and provide reports and insights for financial performance management.
The postholder will need to be accurate, thorough, and enjoy working to the constraints of a structured monthly timetable which dictates when tasks need to be completed, and how, under standard working practices. They will need to feel comfortable in delivering small group training and holding budget meetings with perhaps 1 to 2 colleagues of more seniority than themselves. The postholder may need to work closely with colleagues in other corporate areas such as HR, IT, Performance, Quality and Governance and to support with the analysis an interpretation of both financial and non-financial information effectively. Excel skills to intermediate level is essential, whilst knowledge of Oracle accounting software is desirable.
Previous experience of working within the NHS environment is not essential, but again desirable.

* A working knowledge of financial and non-financial computer systems (including Microsoft Word and Excel) to intermediate level
* Level 2 or 3 AAT Qualification or equivalent experience
