University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) is a tertiary referral Cancer Centre with five outpatient day case units, four inpatient wards, and many outpatient clinics. The cancer pharmacists at UHB are well integrated into all aspects of this service, including ward pharmacy activities, day unit responsibilities, and a number of different pharmacist-led clinics. We have close links with the School of Pharmacy at the University of Birmingham and have a strong track record in delivering and supporting educational and research activities.
We are looking for specialist cancer services pharmacists to join our large and enthusiastic team, in order to provide a high level of specialist pharmaceutical care to our patients in haematology and oncology. We already have a number of pharmacists working independently within clinics and we are keen to further develop these roles and give our team the opportunity to become specialists in particular areas of oncology or haematology.
In addition, we hope you have a passion for education and training in order to support the growing number of junior pharmacists within the cancer pharmacy team. We will also support and encourage you to develop your own research interests and to develop yourself as a specialist clinical pharmacist in a specific area.
Main duties of the job
1. Work independently as a pharmacist prescriber in oncology or haematology clinics.
2. Act as a role model for junior pharmacists in cancer services and assist in education and training initiatives.
3. Ensure safe and effective provision of clinical pharmacy services to cancer patients.
4. Ensure oral SACT patients receive appropriate counselling and support with their medication.
5. Support the Advanced Clinical Pharmacists and Consultant Pharmacists in further development of the clinical pharmacy service.
6. Support the research and development portfolio within the pharmacy department.

* 4-year vocational Masters degree in pharmacy (or equivalent)
* Post-graduate clinical pharmacy qualification or equivalent experience
* Membership of the General Pharmaceutical Council
* Willingness to work towards non-medical prescribing qualification

* Working towards Level I Faculty Membership with the RPS
* Non-medical prescribing qualification

* Significant post-registration hospital pharmacy experience in oncology
