Key Responsibilities:
1. Legal Cashiering and Compliance:
- Manage client accounts in line with SRA Accounts Rules.
- Process daily banking transactions and maintain accurate client ledgers.
- Conduct regular compliance checks and month-end reconciliations.
2. Financial Management:
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports.
- Monitor cash flow and manage VAT and tax returns.
- Assist with year-end accounts and payroll management.
3. Transactional Management:
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable.
- Manage disbursements and ensure accurate billing and invoicing.
4. Financial Controls and Procedures:
- Develop robust financial controls and continuously improve processes.
- Support internal and external audits.
5. IT and Systems Management:
- Ensure effective use of legal and accounting software.
- Maintain data integrity and compliance with data protection regulations.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Qualifications: Relevant accounting qualification (AAT, ILFM, or equivalent) is desirable.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in a similar finance role within a law firm, with experience in client account management, reconciliations, and month-end closing.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and legal accounting software (e.g., Hoowla, LEAP).
- Personal Attributes: High attention to detail, strong communication skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and excellent organisational skills.
