We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Band 7 Children's Physiotherapist to join our Children's Therapy Team. The team delivers physiotherapy services to children and young people aged 0-19 years within acute and community settings.
We are looking to recruit a physiotherapist with experience of working with children and young people with complex needs and wishes to continue to develop the physiotherapy service at Redway where they will be a key link for families and other health professionals.
Redway School has also recently employed a full-time paediatric physiotherapist. This is a wonderful opportunity to work jointly to further develop and deliver a high-quality service for these complex children.
We offer a comprehensive induction, ongoing clinical and managerial support from experienced specialist staff, regular in-house training, as well as opportunities for involvement in service development.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be involved in supervision and support of a Band 6 physiotherapist and students as well as clinical support of 2 assistant practitioners.
* To be responsible for managing the day-to-day delivery of physiotherapy within home and school for pupils of Redway School for the MKUH.
* Patients will be assessed and treated in a variety of different settings including outpatients, school or community as required by the area of clinical specialty.
* To take the physiotherapy lead for children and young people with neurological, neuromuscular and developmental conditions.
* To work in collaboration with Lead Therapists and the Therapy Service Leads to jointly provide clinical and managerial leadership to the Children's physiotherapy team, employed by MKUH in the delivery of a high-quality service for its patients.
* The post holder will have knowledge of emerging clinical developments, providing advice to inform service development in the specialty in support of the appropriate Therapy Lead.
* To demonstrate and role model specialist clinical assessment and treatment skills for an agreed caseload of patients.
* To continually review staffing levels/skill mix in accordance with the changing needs of the service and inform the Therapy Lead of any problems that may arise.
* To act as a source of expertise in specialist area for patients, carers, medical staff and other health professionals, GPs and colleagues.

Job responsibilities
This post will be based at Redway School working with children with complex needs. The role includes complex assessment, developing and reviewing programmes, ordering & reviewing equipment, reviewing & writing annual reviews for EHCP plans and liaising with families and the wider-disciplinary team.
Leadership & management:
* To provide clinical and managerial leadership to the clinical team in area of clinical specialty by working collaboratively with other Lead Therapists and the Therapy Service Lead.
* To contribute to the development of a Therapy Services vision and strategy in conjunction with the wider Trust and other divisional strategies, ensuring that opportunities for development and collaborative working are promoted.
Clinical practice:
* To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your own work, ensuring a high standard of clinical care for the patients under your management by supporting more junior staff to do likewise.
* To maintain own competency to practice through CPD activities, demonstrating awareness of new trends and developments and their incorporation into practice as necessary.
* To actively participate in the in-service training programmes by attending and delivering presentations, tutorials, individual training sessions, peer review, external courses and professional clinical interest groups.
Governance:
* To demonstrate a sound understanding of Clinical Governance and Risk Management and their application to work situation.

Person Specification
Qualifications and knowledge
* Registration in relevant profession with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
* Evidence of a range of specialist continuing professional development.
* Member of relevant specialist interest group (Relevant to area of specialty).
* Membership of relevant professional association i.e. Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).
* Awareness of NHS and Trust systems, policies, procedures and current changes.
* Sound therapeutic and clinical knowledge.
* Ability to demonstrate knowledge and awareness of national guidelines relevant to specialist area.
* Ability to demonstrate knowledge of evidence-based clinical practice for a range of conditions relevant to area of specialty.
* Student Supervisory Skills training.
* Management or leadership training or qualification.
Experience
* Experience of working with patients in relevant specialist area.
* Active member of multi-disciplinary team (MDT) including liaison with clinical specialists, GP, specialist nurses, community teams etc.
* Supervision, appraisal and training of junior members of staff and students.
* Ability to autonomously manage a caseload of highly complex patients.
* Ability to undertake projects within specialist area e.g., using NICE guidance, benchmarking and clinical audit.
* Ability to lead and participate in departmental audits and review of Trust Policy.
* Proven leadership experience in relevant clinical specialty or similar clinical field.
* Knowledge and experience of specialist paediatric equipment such as standing and walking frames.
* Knowledge and experience around postural management.
