Advanced Electric Machines (AEM) was formed in November 2016 as a spin out from Newcastle University. Our site is based in Washington, Tyne and Wear, with very close & accessible links to fantastic Northeast cities; Newcastle upon Tyne & Durham!
Fast forward to 2025, AEM has worked with industry partners, vehicle manufacturers (globally) and academics to develop the most sustainable & highest performing powertrain solutions for electric vehicles across various industries.
Our technology is changing the perception of electrification, and when applied, it leaves more rare earth & copper in the ground...where it belongs!

What youll do:
Be comfortable with potentially extensive travel to customers, exhibitions & events as this is a key element of the role.
Be responsible for the business development and effective lifecycle management of potential customers.
Use market insights and intelligence to collaborate internally and effectively develop new products in line with the business strategy and vision.
Build, maintain and manage strong relationships with potential and existing customers; providing tailored solutions that meet customer needs & requirements.
Identify market trends, technological advancements & regulatory changes to ensure AEM are competitive among their competitors.
Wed love you to have:
Experience of working in the electric motor, transmission, or a related area with a demonstrable aptitude for distilling complex technical concepts into clear and concise messages.
Prior experience in working within an ISO9001 organisation with an understanding of process driven management of the commercial function
Previous experience of selling into the automotive and / or commercial vehicle sectors, and implementing supply agreements or the like, in these sectors.
The ability to speak a second European language, please note this is desired but not essential.

The Role:
The role is permanent working full time - 37.5 hours per week.
We believe in having a work / life balance, which is why AEM offers flexible working around our core hours (Monday to Thursday 9am-4pm and Friday 9am-1pm) allowing you that early Friday finish if you need it!
Living close to our site in Washington, Tyne and Wear is not essential as the role will involve travelling. However, we do expect regular site visits.
