Key Responsibilities
Planning and Design of New Fulfillment Centers
* Lead the site selection, design, and layout planning for new warehouses to support the company’s e-commerce operations.
* Develop workflows for intake, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch to maximize operational efficiency and accuracy.
* Ensure the warehouse design supports high throughput and scalability during peak periods.
Project Management
* Oversee the end-to-end project lifecycle for new warehouse openings, including budgeting, timeline management, and risk assessment.
* Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including real estate, construction, IT, and operations, to deliver projects on time and within scope.
* Manage the procurement and installation of equipment, including shelving, conveyors, and automation systems.
Integration of Technology and Automation
* Evaluate and recommend advanced warehouse technologies, including Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), robotics, and conveyor systems.
* Collaborate with IT teams to ensure seamless integration of warehouse systems with the broader supply chain network.
* Plan for technology upgrades to enhance fulfillment speed and accuracy.
Capacity Planning and Forecasting
* Analyze current and projected demand to determine storage and throughput requirements for new fulfillment centers.
* Design warehouses to optimize space utilization and minimize operational bottlenecks.
* Develop contingency plans to address fluctuations in order volumes.
Compliance and Safety
* Ensure that all new warehouse designs and operations comply with local regulations and industry safety standards.
* Implement best practices to create a safe and efficient work environment.
Performance Monitoring and Continuous Improvement
* Establish KPIs to evaluate the effectiveness of new warehouse setups, including speed, accuracy, and cost efficiency.
* Conduct post-implementation reviews to identify improvement opportunities for future projects.
* Stay updated on e-commerce trends and incorporate innovative practices into warehouse planning.
Qualifications
* Education : Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
* Experience :
* 5+ years of experience in warehouse planning, fulfillment center setup, or logistics project management within the e-commerce industry.
* Proven expertise in opening and scaling new warehouse facilities.
* Skills :
* Proficiency in warehouse planning tools (e.g., AutoCAD, WMS, ERP systems).
* Strong analytical and project management skills (PMP certification is a plus).
* Knowledge of e-commerce order fulfillment processes and automation technologies.
* Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
