The Tax Accountant is responsible for supporting the Group Tax Manager in ensuring accurate and timely compliance with all tax-related requirements. They will assist in tax planning, reporting, and the preparation of tax returns, along with identifying opportunities for tax savings and mitigating risks related to tax matters. This role may involve liaising with external tax advisors, regulatory authorities, and other departments within the organisation. The opportunity to study toward professional tax or accounting qualification with company support.
Key Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance:
* Providing external tax advisers with supporting documentation for tax filings - Corporation tax, R&D claims, Transfer Pricing Reviews.
* Preparation and submission quarterly VAT returns Reviewed by Group Tax Manager.
* Preparation and submission PSA and supporting documents.
* Preparation of US sales tax reporting using Avalara software.
* Assisting with the compliance relating to IR35, Forms P11D, Short Term Business Visitors, non-UK based employees and other employment tax issues.
* Assisting in the documentation of tax processes and procedures considering possible future obligations to comply with Senior Accounting Officer Regime.
Tax Reporting:
* Assisting with tax provisions for group forecasting and for Parent company reporting.
* Providing support for the tax notes and tax provisions included in financial statements including deferred tax.
* Ensure timely and accurate reporting of tax expenses and obligations.
* Collaborate with the finance and accounting teams to ensure tax data aligns with financial statements.
Tax Planning and Strategy:
* Assist in managing tax audits, including responding to queries from tax authorities.
* Analyse changes in tax legislation and their impact on the business.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
* Work closely with legal, finance, and operations teams to ensure tax considerations are factored into key business decisions.
* Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and legal advisors to address complex tax issues.
Tax Risk Management:
* Identify and evaluate tax risks and propose mitigation strategies.
* Provide support for external advisers on managing tax risks in business operations, including mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring.
Requirements:
* Experience in corporate tax compliance and reporting.
* Good understanding of financial systems.
* Effective communicator with internal and external parties.
* Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
* Open to pursuing further professional qualifications.
* Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
