Purpose The Lead Mechanical Engineer is responsible for delivering complex and challenging technical solutions across a range of projects and technical areas, and for guiding and checking the technical solutions of more junior Engineers as necessary, on time and budget and in accordance with all relevant Engineering and Company procedures. A significant proportion of this role is in the management and control of externally supplied mechanical equipment packages.
The Lead Mechanical Engineer is responsible for planning and reviewing the technical activities and solutions of others, and ensuring that they are the optimum in terms of time, cost and quality. They must also develop ideas and improvements that will offer advantages in allowing the Company to undertake project work more efficiently.
The Lead Mechanical Engineer will be familiar with all technical developments in their area of expertise and will bring developments in best practice, technology and legislation to the attention of the Company. The Lead Mechanical Engineer will be the ultimate technical authority in a specific field of their engineering discipline, but will also be competent across a wide range of fields commensurate with the management of externally supplied mechanical equipment. The Lead Mechanical Engineer will undertake technical reviews of complex projects, working with discipline Engineers and the Procurement, Commercial and Construction departments, to ensure that the technical solutions being delivered offer the best solution to the Company.
The Lead Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the technical correctness and quality of Company procedures and processes in their area of expertise, and where changes are necessary will ensure that these are made and rolled out to other members of their team as necessary.
The Lead Mechanical Engineer will demonstrate full understanding of and adherence to all relevant Engineering Procedures, Policies and Standards, and their practical application.

Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications
1. Experienced Engineer.
