SWA are a specialist domestic abuse charity, and are the longest serving domestic abuse charity in Sheffield, providing services for over 50 years to women and children. SWA are a feminist charity, and operate within the framework that identifies domestic abuse as a gendered crime, in that it disproportionally affects women because they are women. SWA recognises the imbalance of power and assertion of control present in domestic abuse and seeks to challenge these beliefs and behaviours.

Contract: Permanent post (subject to contract)
The Lead Practitioner role is a vital leadership role in our small charity. You will oversee one of our refuges we provide and ensure that both survivor and staff needs are recognised, understood and responded to. Leading a small team to ensure survivors' specialist needs are supported as well as being an empathetic but accountable leader will be crucial in this role.
In addition to leadership experience, the successful candidate will have:
* Experience of supporting survivors of domestic abuse, or those who have experienced similar trauma;
* Awareness of safety planning and risk assessing;
* An understanding of domestic abuse and its impact on the lives of women and children;
* Awareness of particular barriers or intersecting needs women may have to accessing support (for example: those from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds; those whose first language is not English; those with insecure immigration status; survivors with disabilities or complex needs);
* Confidence in working both as part of a team and lone working;
* Excellent awareness of safeguarding procedures and processes (both children and adults);
* Experience of working within a multi-agency environment / liaising with external agencies;
* Excellent communication and record keeping skills;
* Ability to use ICT;
* Ability to work on a rota including early (08:30 - 4:30) and later (11:00 - 19:00) shifts;
* Willingness to participate in an On-Call rota providing out of hours support (approx 1 week in every 8) - additional payment will be received for on call duties;
* A full driving license and access to a car with business insurance.

Salary: £28,329 - £29,473 per annum (all new starters commence on the bottom of the scale point)
