Long-Term Teachers are excited to offer a unique and rewarding role at a progressive, forward thinking specialist school in Exmouth. We are seeking proactive and dedicated learning support assistants to join their close-knit, supportive team.
About the role:
As a learning mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting students aged 7 - 16 with a variety of complex needs, including deafness, autism and severe or profound learning difficulties. You will primarily work 1:1, assisting students with their classroom learning and helping the teacher deliver lessons. In addition to academic support, you will also be key in supporting students’ social and emotional development.
The ideal candidate:
* Experience: Previous experience working with individuals with complex needs
* Specialised skills: Experience working with deaf or hearing-impaired children or young adults in an educational setting is a plus
* Qualifications: British sign language (BSL) certification (Level 1, 2 or 3) is desirable
* Qualities: Compassionate, patient and adaptable to different learning styles
* Compliance: A valid DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
This role starts as soon as possible, working Monday to Friday, 9am to 3:30pm, during term time only.
