Senior Hardware Development Engineer | High Wycombe | Up to £70k

We are working with an industry leading client who operate within the Data & Networking sector delivering field test equipment across a variety of different applications. They are looking for a talented and experienced Hardware Engineer with expertise in the development of handheld test equipment to play a pivotal role in the designing and development of new and existing products.
Experience with twisted pair, Wi-Fi, Ethernet & fibre optic experience including optical power metres, fibre light sources and OTDR devices would be preferred.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Test Equipment Development - Designing and developing test measurement engines for Twisted Pair Ethernet, Fibre optic and Wi-Fi transmission.
2. Implementation - Work on both hardware and software for fibre optic test equipment.
3. Experience in working with single and multi-mode lasers and LEDs for fibre optic applications.
4. Prototype and Testing - Prototyping of fibre optic test equipment, conducting testing for performance and accuracy.
5. Hardware and Software Integration – working with other teams for the integration of hardware and software components for all products.
6. Troubleshooting and Maintenance - technical support and development for existing equipment, diagnosing and rectifying hardware and software issues.
7. Documentation - Maintain comprehensive documentation of design, development, and testing processes for all equipment.
8. Quality Assurance - Ensure the quality and reliability following established quality control standards and procedures.
Qualifications required:
1. BEng or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in the development of embedded systems, instrumentation or test equipment.
3. Proficient in designing driver circuits for LEDs and Lasers for fibre optic applications.
4. Proficient with the design of high-gain optical receiver circuits for fibre optic applications.
5. Comfortable with the capturing and processing high speed data.
6. Exposure to analogue RF circuit design.
7. Digital electronics design including FPGA development experience, I2C, SPI and USB.
8. Embedded software development experience with C, C++, Linux including hardware drivers.
