Nurses are required to provide safe, high-quality services for the public and support improvements in the critical care environment so that the safety and quality of care is continually enhanced. The critical care environment is a constantly changing field with emerging technologies and therapies to aid patient recovery through often life-threatening illness. Nurses need to ensure they develop and maintain competence in practice to meet the challenges presented.

Job responsibilities
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Intensive Care Team.
The successful applicant will deliver individual care to critically ill patients requiring advanced support. The applicant will also be required to liaise with the multi-professional team and other services/departments within the Trust to promote good working relationships.
The applicant will need to have a broad and sound clinical knowledge and ideally experience in caring for acutely ill patients. They should either be a registered nurse; newly qualified applications will be considered if a PIN number is available within three months of the interview process.
Training Opportunities in Intensive Care
* We utilise nationally recognized competency packages of learning (CC3N) which are transferable to all Critical Care Units. Additionally, all staff have the opportunity to work with the specialized Practice Education Team and attend New Starters Study days.
* Following completion of the appropriate CC3N Competencies, there is an opportunity to interview for a 60 credit level 7 University accredited ICU module.
* Following attainment of a 60 credit Critical care course, there are additional opportunities to be interviewed for the level 6 Paediatric Course.
* Senior ICU trained nurses will receive additional training to care for paediatrics that are admitted to adult critical care as we have a number of paediatric patients that require stabilization prior to transfer to a paediatric critical care unit.
