Out of the Box Services, also known as Friends Together, believes that everyone should be able to live a fulfilling and inclusive life. We work with young and mature vulnerable adults who need extra support.
We strongly believe in a person-centred approach in everything we do to enable our customers to live an independent life as they choose. It is a guiding principle that the people we support deserve the best service for their money, and we aim to provide a service that meets the highest of standards.
We are currently looking for a confident and enthusiastic Personal Assistant to support vulnerable adults to live as independently and comfortably as possible.
There is no usual day while working at Out of the Box Services. Our clients need help with food shopping, cooking, and managing their household. They also need support to enjoy more fun activities in life, such as evenings out, cinema trips, and a Saturday afternoon playing pool or shopping.
You will need to be confident supporting someone to open post and respond to correspondence in a timely manner. Helping them keep on top of their bills, making sure they are paid, and any forms are completed and returned is essential. You will be working with our customer’s personal information, so it is important that you can file all important documents in hard copy and electronically. It is crucial that our clients have as much control as possible, so you will also prompt them to use and maintain their mobile phone and digital formats as needed.
Some of our clients need help to stay on top of their diary so they don't miss any appointments, including medical and dental.
You will also be confident encouraging good personal hygiene and grooming, and be able to provide companionship and emotional support. Building a relationship with the customers' family is important so you can provide feedback on any changes, spot any trends, and ask them for advice, information, or support when you’re unsure how to proceed.
If you have experience working with people with extra needs, specifically Autism, or even just a desire to see them live fulfilled lives, then we’d be interested in hearing from you.
The contents of this job description are not exhaustive. You may also be asked to perform other related duties relevant to the level of your role to meet the ongoing needs of our business.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. All successful candidates will be required to complete an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check. The role is subject to satisfactory references.
