Consultant Medical Oncologist - Melanoma + 2nd Tumour site (flexible)
We provide Clinical and Medical Oncology inpatient and outpatient services, as well as radiotherapy and systemic anti-cancer therapy to all common tumour sites. The Beacon Centre and St Margaret's Hospice provide cancer care to the population of Somerset of approximately 560,000. They have received a number of accolades since opening in 2009 for the high-quality care delivered.
Main duties of the job
You'll be joining an ambitious team including a number of consultants who are active within national roles. We are a research-oriented department with a dedicated Clinical Trials team.
The role will incorporate the management of melanoma patients and one other tumour site. This second site can be discussed in pre-interview conversations with one of the Clinical Service Leads.
The appointee would join a progressive and enthusiastic melanoma team supported by an experienced and dedicated skin cancer nurse team; comprising 3 dermatology oncology CNS and 1 maxillofacial CNS and invaluable cancer support workers. There is a weekly skin specialist MDT which the Yeovil team also link into via teams. We work closely with the plastic surgery team in Exeter with provision of wide local excision and sentinel lymph node biopsy for all suitable patients. In addition to standard systemic therapy, we are a T-VEC centre, and accept referrals from other cancer centres for this treatment.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Attainments
* Full and specialist registration (and with a license to practice) with the General Medical Council (GMC) or be eligible for registration within 6 months of Interview.
* If an applicant is UK trained then they must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of training (CCT) in Medical Oncology or be within 6 months of CCT by date of interview. If an applicant is non-UK trained then they will be required to show evidence of equivalence of UK CCT.
Clinical Experience
* Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients and be able to work in a multidisciplinary team.
* Experience of e-prescribing.
Clinical Skills
* Evidence of a good standard of Literacy / English language skills.
Organisation & Planning
* Experience and interest in teaching of staff both undergraduate and postgraduate and from all disciplines.
* Knowledge of ethics, principles of practice of clinical research and proven participation in clinical research.
* GDP training and experience in recruiting patients to relevant trials.
