Our client is an important and historical Government body, working to preserve and document history.
With a background in risk and performance, the role holder will be responsible for leading the corporate business planning and performance systems and processes and supporting the corporate approach to risk management. The post holder will also take the lead on some areas of policy development and support the Head of Improvement in the development of the Improvement Framework.
Responsibilities
Leadership of the development of Corporate Plan/Strategic Plan, Delivery Plans and the preparation of quarterly and annual Delivery Plan and Improvement Framework reports for consideration by the Executive Management Group (EMG), Advisory Board (AB) and Risk Monitoring and Audit committee (RMAC), deploying team resources in support of these arrangements. This includes the provision of strategic advice and briefings to the organisation and senior leaders on improvement in order to make sound and evidence-based business decisions, ensuring the organisation has effective governance and control in place for all areas of organisational improvement including the development and delivery of outcomes and indicators.
This process will also include engagement with external partners and stakeholders i.e. providing advice to Ministers and senior civil servants on risk and potential points of failure.
Supporting the development of an improvement culture by leading corporate business planning and performance processes, and working across directorates and establishments to support the development of Business Improvement Plans and wider improvement products.
Leading the embedding of the risk management framework throughout the organisation. This includes preparing updates on key risks, reporting on mitigating controls and action plans to ensure managers at all levels throughout the organisation are aware of risk management and can manage risk as a core part of their responsibilities.
Managing a small team, coordinating and integrating reporting arrangements on outcomes and key areas of responsibility (performance, planning and risk) ensuring that a consistent and compelling narrative is conveyed. This will include working across directorates, establishments and areas to ensure timely and accurate reporting, building a shared understanding of challenges and risks to delivery and steps to mitigate these.
Leadership of some areas of policy development and developing evidence-based policy for some key areas.
Person Specification
The post holder should be qualified to degree level or have significant relevant leadership experience with an understanding of public body governance/strategic planning, performance and/or risk expectations.
