Job Description
Key Responsibilities
1) Support all production engineering activities within an ESD controlled shop floor environment. Including but not limited to Equipment Fault Finding, New Product Introduction, Existing Product process verification.
2) Implement documentation and controls for all production processes in line with company, international (AS9100) and customer standards.
3) Ensure all production processes meet the requirements laid out by the engineering team including all documentation, drawings and/or process instructions.
4) Produce, sign off and train operators on new processes providing detailed work instructions for each process or product.
5) Complete risk assessments prior to undertaking any activity which is not covered by standard production risk assessment or standard operating procedure (SOP) ensuring that risks and hazards in activities undertaken in the role are acknowledged and conducted in accordance with processes, procedure and measures in place to mitigate risks.
6) Support the engineering implementation of lean principles such as 5S, and continuously monitor and improve production processes.
7) Advise the engineering manager on progress of jobs, parts availability, delivery targets and any emergent problems to meet targets.
8) To bring to the attention of the engineering and operations manager consistent areas of failure and offer solutions to eradicate these within capable means.
9) Identify areas of improvement and implement changes to reduce the cost to the company whilst maintaining quality of service and product.
10) Encourage inter-departmental team working to improve working practices and shared learning.

4) Ensure that any modifications to process are properly controlled and documented.

Intrinsic Job Factors
1) The role is based in Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, Scotland and may require the occasion travel to other countries in support of the business growth plans.
2) The role will require the use of Display screen equipment and Microsoft office work packages.
3) The role will require a significant level of manual dexterity, handling and lifting required to fulfill the role.
4) Over and above the contracted full time hours the employee may be expected to work the occasional extended hours, including weekends, to meet business needs. These hours will be paid at the appropriate overtime rate.
5) The employee should be flexible and able to work to tight deadlines (regular or ad hoc)

Qualifications / Experience / Specific Skills
Essential
1. A BSc or BEng degree in engineering, ideally Electronics or Mechanical
2. Equipment / Process Fault Finding
3. Production support engineering and factory operational requirements
4. Process/Production Engineering including process flow, process optimisation, lean processing, 5S.
5. 5 Years + Experience of working in a production environment (Ideally within an ESD or electronics sector)
Preferred
6. Lean Principles qualification (5S, 6 Sigma etc)
7. Experience of statistical process control and machine efficiency/data capture
8. Experience of Electronic components & rework processes
9. Quality Management systems (ISO or AS)
