DS Smith in Belper has an exciting opportunity for a Shift Manager to join the high-performing Operations team at the site. This key role will involve managing the manufacturing process, meeting internal and external customer expectations, quality and delivery, whilst maximising and continuously improving manufacturing efficiencies and minimising costs. We are looking for a strong Shift Manager from the Packaging or Manufacturing Industry. This is challenging and rewarding shift-based role and if you have a passion for leadership, team development and delivering performance then you could be the person that we are looking for The site operates a 24/5 operation with rotating shift pattern. 6am to 2pm, 2pm to 10pm and 10pm to 6am. What being a Shift Manager at DS Smith will involve… Use Performance Management methodology to achieve targeted KPI levels which include Health and Safety, Quality, Waste, Productivity, Housekeeping and Development of your machine operators. Coach and challenge individuals and teams to increase their capabilities and performance. Develop skills through training and development Lead incident and accident investigations Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions Manage the production process to optimise throughput efficiency whilst minimising/eliminating waste and ensuring customer expectations for quality and delivery are met on time and in full. Enable continuous improvement as a key aspect of manufacturing performance, customer service and quality - Working closely with the process engineers. Create effective and efficient working relationships with and between direct reports, peer’s customer and suppliers alike. Deliver a sustainable supply of quality products through conformance to production plans Comply with DS Smith standards and processes at all times. What we would like our candidate to have… Previous management experience in the packaging or Manufacturing industry Good people management skills Knowledge of LEAN tools and methodologies.
