An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Nurse to join the Respiratory Unit and ARCU based in AAU Level 3 Blue/Yellow at Watford General Hospital (Full time available). NIV (Non-invasive ventilation) is provided for the care of patients with Type 2 Respiratory Failure.
ARCU is one of the few areas in WHHT which caters NIV as a specialist care. The Respiratory Unit caters for patients with acute respiratory conditions, Tracheostomy and Chest Drain patients.
You will learn the details of managing patients with various Respiratory care needs as well as requiring isolation management. This is a great starting point for any nurses looking to understand and learn about infection control in the long term.
We are looking for dynamic, motivated, adaptable and hardworking individuals who will work in partnership with our Senior Nursing Team to give our patients the best care every day.
As a Band 5 RN you will take care of ARCU patients in the Respiratory ward.
This position will allow you to gain excellent skills in NIV, tracheostomy care, chest drain, airway management and patients with other respiratory and medical conditions.
It will allow you to work with newly registered Nurses and student Nurses on a regular basis. You will also be working closely with NIC, NIV specialist care practitioner, Band 7 Senior Sister and Matron for Respiratory Unit and ARCU in AAU Level 3 Blue/Yellow.
Training will be given and there is an opportunity for staff to develop professionally to their full potential through the Trust Training & Development Programme.

The band 5 RN is required to:
* Provide a high standard of individualised care to patients, acting as a role model.
* Support the NIC, Senior Sister/Charge nurse in driving quality care provision forward.
* Be responsible for standards of cleanliness in their own clinical area in partnership with the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.
* Provide clear clinical leadership to junior staff, supporting the Junior sister deputising for the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in her/his absence.
